I would love to have a feature that allows me to measure (short-term) LUFS and graph it over time on the x axis. Ideally, this would be done off-line so I don’t have to sit through playing back the track in real-time.
This sure would come in handy as you’re trying to get the overall loudness of a track to be reasonably even in material that has a lot of dynamic range variation in its various parts.
Or perhaps there’s a plugin for that already that I’m unaware of?
I guess, Youlean Loudness Meter has most of the features you’re looking for. It comes as a standalone application and as a plugin. If you add the plugin to a channel, it analyzes the incoming audio in realtime. It also runs when rendering in place or during a mixdown and shows the final result when done.
The standalone application allows for loading audio files and analyzes them pretty fast.
I’ve had another recommendation elsewhere for YouLean, and it’s the plugin that looked the most promising, so between all that, I’ll give that one a try - at least on paper, it should do everything I need it to do. Thanks!
Do you mean Supervision? It indeed provides various loudness measurements but I find it difficult to get a proper loudness curve of the entire project. As far as I can tell, you can’t scroll the graph horizontally to review sections outside the visible area. Also, Supervision doesn’t show data when rendering in place or when creating a mixdown. At least, I haven’t found a setting to turn it on yet.
Sorry, I just saw your other post about the loudness track. Yes, that’s indeed a nice feature that I already forgotten about. Personally, I find Youlean Loudness Meter more versatile and a bit more comprehensive.
No, I did not. Just the built-in meter in the right zone. However, I didn’t see the History Graph on the right side of the Youlean plugin when writing my response. That is pretty neat and not part of Cubase Pro’s feature set.
