Please brace yourselves…a post without me whining lol
This is such great tool for troubleshooting surgical stuff. I love the delta functions. Its been in Cubase such a long time and maybe its time for a couple of tweaks so Im throwing it out there to see if anyone else actually uses this
- Please add a much higher resolution for lower freq with user options
- Allow multiple clips to be combined into 1 window
- A goniometer or pan capture that can translate into values to paste into the channel pan (eg toms)
The idea is the overhead is not just for cymbals out an overall picture of the kit. There is dependent info like tom pan etc that needs to be extracted. Amount of users that actually record drums these days…prob not a lot…
Use case
I do a lot of live drum recording. Sure there are lots of phase tools etc but they are post tracking; most of the time, Im setting up, do a bunch of single hits as an element capture and need basic checks for timing etc and this would be a great addition for usability eg informing mic placements also with amp/cab/room positioning
Here is s a range selection just on the overheads in MS (large ribbon r88)
Its giving me a great snapshot of the particular kit and room modes which inform pre tracking decisions.
