So what your saying is we should accept that Steinberg have released a Cubase that is a flawed piece of software and we should wait untill it actully works properly before criticising it…I personally prefer when i give my hard earned money for a product to actually work as advertised…
Speaking as a non power user for whom Cubase 8.5 will not shut down but Cubase 8.0.35 works beautifuly…
and lets not forget CP8.5 doesn’t regognise it’s own cpr…
This!!! I have forgotten this!
Terribly annoying too. So, I am not using VCA, track visibility agents, hide all automation, etc, because they don’t work as they should
Features We paid for, and should be working after all this time.
Steve, this won’t go away, we are politely trying to have a conversation as paying customers with steinberg here but it takes two to have one.
(This shouldn’t be taken as a bash against you, you are a very good voice in this forum but you are the only one responding to us so far)
Sorry, I referring to Mac. I haven’t had your mentioned issues on Mac (El Capitan) running 8.5. I’m updating my PC to 8.5 this weekend so hopefully I don’t encounter this.
Can’t find that much difference … You may have asked for it, but won’t use it either, as it’s yet another half baked feature.
The difference is, that You are willing to wait 5, 8, 10 (?) years for a usable implementation !
Cubase 8.5 has gathered a nearly endless list of half baked features, that no one uses.
I can add : Track Versions, Multitrack Audio Quantization, VST Instrument panel, Info Line, Control Room Mixer, etc.
Steinberg has always been slow. To “develop all these concepts successfully over time”, will take forever.
At least, when the priorities stay as they are … and yes, no one (here) will move the “Stonemountain”
I will be out of business, till most of these things get “developed successfully”.
I came to the same conclusion, as the OP … … … about 10 years ago !
Yes, I can get work done, but the workslow in 8.5 reaches SX2 ‘highs’, again.
Each to their own I guess! Personally, I use Visibility Agents every day, I use Info line ALL THE TIME, I use Hide All Automation probably about every 30 seconds (I don’t have this folder closing issue that some are mentioning).
As for Control Room -that has become an absolutely ESSENTIAL thing for me -Key commands to switch between my different monitors, Key commands to listen to various reference tracks without them having to go through my master buss processing and of course using it for headphone monitor mixes when recording. Control Room is awesome!
Steinberg IS reading the forums. Not only here. As written by some other persons here: They have a time frame / costs calculation like every other commercial company.
Regarding bugfixing: a couple of years ago the users here wsnted to have faster and smaller updates. Regarding “the small bug fix list” : please be assured that the list is longer then is written.
Hello - are you with Steinberg, is that how you know they are reading? If so - would you know why they don’t interact with the forum members on threads like these in a more meaningful fashion? It is not the usual way to build a mutually respectful relationship, and so I can’t understand why there is as little interaction on these threads as there is.
And if the “bug fix list is longer than written” - why would that be, why not have the bug list reflect the actual state of affairs, especially when the alternative is more angst on the part of the customers?
There is so much I don’t understand about the state of communications between Steinberg and its customers, I feel that there is probably something very obvious I’m just missing.
Your first question : Yes they do. And yes I am not at Steinberg direclty.
I had (regarding forum) in the past meetings (and they still have) directly with product planing and product management, where we discussed and talked about what is written in the forums AND what customers wrote Steinberg by email or said to us by phone.
And YES some more communication would be nice here at the forum. Posting new products in other forums first and 3 weeks later here is not good.
2th Question: most of the “bugs” are allready written down with a prio list (show stopper . Annoying etc etx) please keep in mind that I am talking for myself. We made a list what customers communicated to us + by email etc (just support department who is dealing everyday with you guys) and this list got done.
For everyone complaining about Steinberg not being involved on the forum, try Digital Performer (MOTU), or Logic (Apple), they don’t even have a forum…only user created forums.
Then they are the minority, cause all the other major DAW companies have official user forums. I don’t understand this “they have it much worse over there, so we shouldn’t be complaining here” mentality. We have a problem that needs a solution HERE, regardless. I use Cubase, NOT DP or Logic.
My point is, if you can’t stand Stienberg and their bug-filled products, go to another DAW. You will be facing the same reality, or possibly worse. I know many users here also use Pro Tools, so anyone who’s been on the Avid forum knows what I mean. I use Cubase 8 (along with Logic and PT) regularly to earn an income…do I find bugs? Honestly, I have only encountered a few over the years, but most of my issues were lack of knowledge; which were always solved by the helpful members here. It jus seems that all of this manic hysteria is a bunch of wishlist items, not legitimate bugs.
It jus seems that all of this manic hysteria is a bunch of wishlist items, not legitimate bugs.
whoa there cowboy, you’re quite high up on that horse. There is no point in repeating all the issues from the issues list in this thread, these are already well documented and some go far back. This is why a few have chosen to voice their concerns here about the prolonged absence of resolutions. ‘Bunch of wishlist items’ was what Steinberg answered the initital thread with in the form of a survey that was made of a load of whishlist features, the opposite of what the thread was about.
I get your point. Trust me, I got it the first time . If you’re happy with Cubase, and you rarely encounter any bugs, then good for you buddy! Cubase is an awesome DAW (otherwise I wouldn’t be here, believe me). But please don’t come here telling us we’re causing a manic hysteria over non legitimate bugs. Seriously? Have you been reading this, and the other related thread (the one that started this plea)? There are a bunch of legitimate bugs and unfinished features outlined on both, plus many others that were not mentioned.
Listen, I’m not gonna repeat what has been said many times already. It is obvious you didn’t read the whole thread, so I’m not wasting my time. Plus, I don’t need to convince YOU of anything. Have a nice day!
