I’ll be posting a few longtime bugs like this that often get in the way of fast workflow and would be fantastic to get fixed soon. Here’s the first:
EDIT: Made a mistake – it’s not folder tracks like I originally wrote, it’s Vienna Ensemble Pro Instrument Rack with multiple outputs.
Repro: Create a new track of any kind under an existing VEP VSTi Rack track with multiple outputs, by highlighting one of the MIDI input or audio output tracks.VSTi Rack tracks that have multiple outputs.
You will see that Cubase puts the the new track at the bottom of the entire project instead of directly under the highlighted track like it normally would.
Can’t reproduce. This works as intended for me, and always has. If its an FX or group track, make sure the “Folder Setup” dropdown is selected to what you want (inside or outside the folder).
I don’t own/use VEP, but I don’t see how it’d be any different to any other instrument track or rack instrument.
What i think you’re getting at is you have a rack instrument (not instrument track) and it wont create a new track under a highlighted rack instrument. I’m using Kontakt in a rack track here and it creates a new track directly under the highlighted track
Keep in mind: the midi track and intrument output tracks are entirely separate from one another in this instance.
It’s not going to create a new track immediately under the Rack Instruments “folder”. It’s not a folder as such, in the usual sense. It cant create a new track there; that is where the instrument outputs appear and not a “folder” track in the true sense. It will create one directly under that though. That is not a bug. It’s just kinda apples and oranges.
Thank you so much for checking this out. Yes, that’s exactly what I mean.
For me it’s a major nuisance because I have very large sessions for scores, so when I want to insert any kind of new track where we’re talking about, I then need to scroll to the bottom of the session to get it, and in part because of the slow vertical drag-and-scroll behavior in the Project window as well as using the Divide Tracks List on top as workaround, it takes time to do this. Whereas is if there were an option to simply insert a track exactly where you want it to begin with in this situation like it is for all others, it would be one click versus multiple clicks/drags to get it there.
