A way to create custom text in Dorico Elements?

Has anyone found a clever hack to add custom text annotations to specific notes/bars in Elements 4? Elements covers almost all of what I need at the moment, and upgrading to Pro just for custom Playing Techniques doesn’t feel cost-effective…

You can add text using Shift+X text in Dorico Elements, though this won’t have any playback effect.

Yes, thanks! That’s pretty good - is there a way to get text created with Shift+X to be closer to a notehead? I have a low note below the bass clef in a keyboard part that I’d like to add a small text annotation to, and text I create with Shift+X stays resolutely above the staff.

In Pro one can use Engrave mode to move text closer. Not sure whether Elements allows that or whether one can reset the preferred distance for stuff to appear closer to the staff.

Ahhh-ha! I’m new to Dorico and, though I’ve learned a lot of things about notation, I haven’t even looked at Engrave Mode yet. That’s the answer. Thanks!
