Can anyone help me troubleshoot? I’ve been unsuccessful in uploading .m4a files (aac, iTunes Standard cbr) created with WaveLab 13 to Apple Music. I spent a full day just figuring out that this is the issue; I can upload mp3 files created with WaveLab 13 with no problem.
Which version of WaveLab do you have, latest 13.0.20? Are you running WaveLab on Mac?
If so, maybe your problem is connected to this issue:
Latest, 13.0.20. Windows 11. No error messages. File plays properly in any media player. It seems to be a problem with any AAC compressed audio. If I export PCM and compress externally to AAC (Audacity) it uploads without a problem.
Do you have the possibility to test with WaveLab 12?
I had uninstalled WaveLab 12. I did reinstall it and got the same results; the AAC compressed file will upload and appear in Apple Music Cloud, but is unplayable and grayed out, “This item is not currently available in your county or region.” I don’t know how long this has been a problem since I have been outputting 192kbps Lame mp3 files for over a decade; I just recently decided it was time to move to something more efficient and ran into this problem.
Hi
This looks more like an issue with your Apple Music sign in (geographic region restrictions) rather than your WL generated m4a.
Apple appears to clearly 'see; the upload but thinks it can’t display it for region restriction reasons.
I think the region message is a red herring; all uploads will say this for a brief period of time.
Right … but in your case they keep displaying this even after the ingestion period correct?
Correct. They remain grayed out with the region message. I think this is actually unrelated to any actual region issues, which I don’t experience with mp3 files. I’ve also combed through all file metadata to eliminate any region issues.
Well it looks like you’ve covered all the regional bases.
Perhaps this Apple Audio Asset Guide might give some hints or direction. Interestingly, it doesn’t list m4a as a supported audio asset upload anymore … but maybe I’m missing something. Good luck with tracking this issue down.
