Hi When I add an accent to a semibreve, it always writes below the note. Am I wrong? Is there some convention that says it should be underneath? I would have thought it would be clearer on top of the note.

This is definitely not normal! Is this a native Dorico file or an XML import? I suppose you have been playing with Engraving options somehow ? (and maybe arrived at a golden combo 
)
Could you upload (part of) the file that exhibits this issue here? (set the playback template to “silence” and zip up the file)
