Add bars/time signature

dear all,

i’m trying to insert bars (shift b) and a pop up window says: “to add bars, first add a time signature…”

but there are already time signature.

i’ve repeated it (4/4) in case some hidden X or whatever would cause problem, but unsucccessfully.

Has anyone an idea where my problem lies?

If you turn on View->Signposts, you can see all the hidden open time signatures.
Under Preferences->MusicXML I have everything unticked except Text Items and Import other -technical-playing-techniques.
