I’m missing song categories like intro, verse, chorus, bridge, fills, breaks, outro that I can quickly select from a drop down menu inside the new drum machine that allows me to specifically let me create patterns for these specific song parts through the drum machine.
Would love if I could quickly create a fill using the drum machine, the fill selection and then click the dice that will create me a fill or a break or an intro or something else that I need… Would love you to introduce these song parts as a drop down menu so the drum machine creates exactly the song parts that I need, best of course even coordinated with the other parts that I created before so that all the parts fit to themselves best…
Oh yes, that would be a good idea to optimize the workflow with the drum machine (corrected). Currently, it’s causing me more anxiety than joy. However, this problem is also solvable. It’s just a bit cumbersome. So your idea would be very welcome.
Drum machine as a VST instrument and the pattern sequencer (editor) are at least what I mean when I look at your pictures. Both are related. When you load the drum machine as a VST, you can choose between a pattern event and a MIDI part. I assume that a track has to be assigned to the drum machine. However, every now and then when you reopen the project including the drum track, an empty field opens at the bottom with the subtle message that you should please create a drum track. This also happens frequently when you switch from the editor (pattern sequencer) to the drum machine (VST). Every now and then in the pattern sequencer (editor) the entire snare note disappears when you switch note values, e.g. the kick from 1/16 to 1/4. This is just an example. Of course it is possible - I do it too - to create your own pool of different options (intro, fill, etc.). I suspect what Udo Behm means, that it would be nice if Cubase/Nuendo were able to read this out. So, something like that, so you have a melody and don’t have to rummage around for drums to fit it. I often spend hours tinkering with drums myself, naming them to the maximum. I think AIs aren’t that advanced enough, and that’s the only way it will work, not that. It has the advantage that we’re still forced to think for ourselves.
I neither oppose nor support the feature request. I merely try to help the OP to get the wording correct so that a maximum amount of people understand what the FR is about.
Pattern Editor and Drum Machine are designed to cooperate with each other tightly. However, I can also use the Pattern Editor for any other instrument, not only Drum Machine. And I can use MIDI Parts for Drum Machine as well, which includes the usage of an Arranger Track.
The requested feature would be a feature of the Pattern Editor, not of Drum Machine.
