Add marker key commands stopped working

Some time before Cubase 14 came out, the key command for adding markers stopped working. The command is still set in the preferences, and the Cubase 14 update didn’t fix the issue, so I’m wondering if I’ve missed something. I know there were some changes to the name of the shortcut (it’s now under Markers and called “Add position marker on active track”), but it’s not working for me. How can I fix this? My key command for it is control-shift-k

MacOS 14.6.1

The marker is inserted but only becomes visible as soon as a marker track is created.

The marker track is already there–with markers on it that were added manually by pressing the button (or in older files, pre-existing markers).

OK, it works normally for me. Have you tried other key combinations?

I tried a different key combo and it worked. Then switched back to control-shift-k and it was broken again. That combo is not in use anywhere else, so it seems like it should work. Not sure what else to try other than changing the key command I’ve been using for years (I think I used to use it on Logic). There’s no other keyboard/shortcut-related software running on the machine.

I’ve tried assigning Ctrl+Shift+K and it works (albeit on Win10 here); so at least C14 doesn’t fundamentally prevent it.

Yeah, by design it’s probably the same. But if it’s a bug, then that could obvs be Mac specific. Cubase 13 had the same issue just before I upgraded. Does 14 just use/copy the configuration files from 13? Or are new files created and then written to? If it were a corrupt configuration file which was global or directly copied, I could see that carrying a bug over.

Cubase adopts existing settings from older versions (e.g. C13 => C14) during installation. If you suspect the settings, try renaming the file Key Commands.xml, it will then be recreated with the default settings.
