Add or delete a bar at the beginning of a song

Hello,
I need to insert a bar at the beginning of a song that contains tempo, Signature , Lirics , Audio , and DMX tracks…

If there were only audio tracks, the audio tracks could just be move to the next bar.

Is there any trick to move the none audio tracks by exactly one bar? (insert a bar, or something alike?)

Thanks for any advice

Val

I have the same problem. There is obviously no solution for this in VSTLive at the moment.
Inserting and removing bars for all track types should definitely be implemented in future versions!

IMHO, a future addition of some Ctrl+A and be able to move/drag AllSelected might solve this and much more then the ability to insert/cut one bar.

Of course, this is exactly what must be possible. That was also what I meant in my suggestion.

… it’s already on our list.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

I´ll try to export the non audio tracks to see if I can then import them in a new project into a specific bar, maybe that’s a workaround.

A suggestion to Michael would be that all the instructions on non audio Tracks be included in a clip, (like midi tracks)

I will also try to glue together all the DMX data, so that all the instructions are coupe together in only one track and one clip

I´ll let you know if that helps

Thanks

Hi guys! Yest I grabbed multiple clips and could move together (exept lyrics, tempo, sign markers).

I hope this will be helpful to all of you as well

Yes that is probably the best way to do it but please keep in mind that Start-Marker/End-Marker and Left-/Right-Locator also has to be moved and I don’t believe that CTRL-A can reach these. Sounds like an “Edit - Select all in Timeline” command with a dialogue “Ad Bar”.

Is that even possible in any DAW?

Not that I know of. When I think about it, I don’t think that’s necessary. If you want to insert one or more bars before bar 1, you could do that using an “Insert Dialog”. Then you wouldn’t have to actively select anything.

Hello, we have the same problem (on stage). Required configuration:
at least 20 songs
before we start playing we need to send (pdf) lyrics and chords to ipads - it depends on the musician
midi commands to 10 devices (kemper, mix, etc.) for selecting sound banks/effects
sending tempo=midi clock , generate a click from it
and then we can run anything

Yes, go to the tempo track, settings, process tempo dialogue box. Choose add one bar at bar 1

Hello, can´t find those options you mention (Tempo Track/Settings/Process Tempo Dialog Box.)

Hi @vsosa1314 , I think @jake_long84 were drafting his wish, but please understand despite this

sounz easy, just start to make a list how many little detail needed to be rewritten under the hood and if one and only is missing or half baked, would brake someone’s performance. This would be a new feature and last but not least I still belive in a future dev. CTRL+A (CMD+A) and move everything together (as under e.g. Cubase) would do more.

Finally my solution is when had just a few tpo/ sign entry:

  • Retyped entries with one bar
  • Slipped clips away one bar
  • CTRL / CMD +A in Lyrics-View and slipped that away too.

I usually preserve 2bars before songs for any case and StartMarker is our friend to fire the song exactly where we would like start.

Yeah! I do the same since my first project. It´s always good to have some extra space

It’s in process bars, in the tempo track. You could also cut and paste time:

If its a time code thing or you want to keep bars an d beats the same but start timecode at a certain spot (good for film work) you can also chose project->set timecode at cursor. set it to 00:00:00 even, it will allow you to go into negatives prior to this.

@jake_long84 great to know I - somehow - never ended up here, cool, Thank you!!
But that is in Cubase, not jet avaiable in VSTL.

even cooler is reinterpret bars which isn’t really related but check it out if you haven’t seen it. Lets you enter in a new time signature for a couple bars of whatever and adjust the tempo of the song such that nothing changes.

No worries my friend, whats VSTL?
