So, i’ve decided i need a pickup measure after the score has been completed. It’s 3/4 and i need a pick up measure with a quarter note on beat 3 to start the piece. I added a measure before the 1st measure, and then created the pickup measure, but when I hit enter, the entire score is altered. I’ve included 3 screenshots. (1)- the blank measure i added (2) the procedure in creating the pickup and (3) what happens after hitting enter. Not sure what order theyll be uploaded in. Thank you
There are several ways to do this. When I post my way of doing this, @Lillie_Harris often comes along and gives a cleverer way that I can never remember. But this is what I’d so, assuming I was in your starting position, i.e.:
Select the first note, then type Shift+B to open the bars popover, and type +1q and hit Return, which will add one quarter’s worth of time:
Then select the initial 3/4 time signature, type Shift+M for the meter/time signatures popover, and type 3/4,1, then hit Return:
Now simply enter whatever pick-up note(s) you require.
