Adding a Player

Can’t figure out why, when I add a French Horn Player to my score the Setup Mode and the Player appears in the Players list, why the new staff does not show up in my score in either Page View or Galley View… Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Check that the player is included in the flow.

Sorry, but I don’t know how to do that. Can you explain. Thanks so much.

Mark,

Bingo. That did it. Thank you so much. I figured that since I only had 1 Flow in this piece the instrument would automatically show up when I added it to the Platers List.
Thanks again.
Gary

Thanks, Stu. Got it.

If the flow was originally imported into the project (eg via MusicXML), then players won’t automatically get added to it.

Thank you, Lillie.

If you have time I have another `. If I go into play mode and change a note duration in playback (Shorten the sound) and then copy and paste that note into another measure, will the shortened playback duration go with the paste or will I have to go into each instance and adjust the playback durations individually?
Thanks

I’d expect so, but why not have a go and see?

Depending on why you’re shortening the note though, you might be able to make global changes (in Library > Playback Options) that make this a rule that affects all notes anyway.

Thanks, Lillie. The reason I ask that is the marcato marking (^) I like to be a little shorter on playback. It sounds like it’s playing back at bout 90% of the value of the note and I want that symbol to sound at about 70% of the value. Somewhere between a staccato and a regular note.

Thanks so much. I am making great progress on Dorico every day. There is just so much there.
