Adding an instrument to a new blank page

Hello. I have created a new project which includes the original hymn on page 1. On page 2, I would like to have a three staff organ part which is the descant and should be completely separate from the staves on page 1. I have created the second page in Engrave mode, but am not sure what to do from there to have a 12 measure 3 staff organ part.

Do the two pages have to relate in any way (meaning they are the same hymn and you want to see or produce a score of both at the same time (for some other purpose or publication))?

If not, could you create a new flow?

You should find some YouTube videos on flows which might help you decide if a new flow is suitable.
After adding flows, you can make each flow begin on a new page (which is what you want).

This decision might depend on what else is on the following pages etc. after these two pages.

It sounds like you’d want a new flow for the descant.

In Setup mode, create a new flow for page 2, and a new 3-staff organ. Select the first flow and de-select the 3-staff organ. Select the second flow, and de-select the first organ.

That blank page suggests that you’ve created an “override”, which you’ll need to remove. Right click on the page 2 icon in Engrave mode (on the right-hand panel) and select “Remove Page Override”.

Based on all the answers so far, I will need to create a new flow. Thank you all for your input. I will see what happens and keep you all apprised.

Just to hammer the point home: usually, you don’t create blank pages. You write the music, and Dorico will create as many pages as are needed.
