Additive durations in metric modulations

Quick question. Is there any way, either with plusses or ties, to do a metric modulations such as

“five 16th notes = quarter note” // “quarter note + 16th note = quarter note”
i.e. “q + x = q”

or

“dotted 16th + dotted 32nd = eighth”
i.e. “x. + y. = e”

If not, what do you recommend as a workaround for now?

PS I’ve seen the threads about tuplet-based metric modulations, and I look forward to the day that’s supported, but this is a slightly different question.
