Adjust text independently in parts

I have system text for section names, but it shows bad collisions in the parts. How do I independently adjust the text in the part? If I move text in the part, it reflects back and messes up the full score.

Set this to locally before editing the part.

That doesn’t work for me. I select “locally only”, choose a note in the tenor sax part and use shift-option-x, input the text. When I click away, the text jumps up above the top staff in galley view…

Galley view is not for preview, but for editing, Many formatting and Engrave mode changes are not reflected in Galley view. You must use Page View to see. It’s a common assumption, but incorrect, that Galley View is the same a Page View but just in a running stream.

That would seem to make sense. However, I get the same results in page and galley views. Too bad: that would’ve been a quick solution. Here are the screen shots.

Even if I delete the text entirely, open just the part I want it in, and attach it to a note in that part, when I got back to full score view, the text isn’t just in the tenor part, it’s become global.
Isn’t there a “part-only” text selection function?

Are you perhaps entering System Text (shift-alt-x) rather than normal staff text (shift-x)?
(Edited due to brain fade!)

“shift-T” gets me Tempo. I’m using “shift-option-x”

SHIFT+OPT+X is System Text and shows up on all parts (and in specific places in the score).

SHIFT+X is Staff Text.

Ah okay. I knew it was gonna be something simple and common sensical as that. Thank you!
