And tweak the Engraving option for double bar (provided you don’t need to use one in the piece) :

(Probably not a very good solution, as double barlines are quite useful…)

What would solve your problem is a third option in Notation options, with Thick barline

The possibility to change the barline of the first system seems to be a Dorico 6 feature
