Adjusting length of notes

I am adjusting the length of notes by using ALT + SHIFT + arrows. I need the note to be just a a seiquaver longer. How can I do that? (se

Set your grid to semi-quavers in the lower left corner, or just select the target note/chord (click on stem) and press 7 to change it to a minim/half note.
