Adjusting the layout of one flow in a project of many flows

I cannot get a clear answer to this in my research. How do you make layout options to just one flow in a project of several flows. In everything I read, it keeps saying that I need to select a flow first and that the list of flows are in setup mode on the left side panel. But since these flows are piano solos, the only thing i see on the left panel is player and grand staff. The flows are on a horizontal row at the bottom in setup mode. So I selected the flow where I want the change. The flow box is highlighted when selected. And then I go into Layout options. For there i did a test and change the vertical spacing of the piano staff, but when i hit apply, it was global. All of the songs’ piano staff were enlarged.

Layout options apply to all flows (for any given layout). You cannot adjust them for a single flow.

What you can do is (manually) apply a different page template to a single flow.

dang it. Google said I could lol

Such is the idiocy of AI…

Maybe it works for you to create an extra layout for just that flow

And deattach that flow for the ā€˜normal’ one

What is it that you want to be different in that one flow? There are plenty of ways to make local changes to the vertical spacing.

This does sound like AI hallucination I’m afraid.

Flows are never listed on the left:

  • In Setup mode, the Flows panel is at the bottom
  • In Notation Options, flows are listed on the right

Meanwhile elsewhere:

  • In Layout Options, layouts are listed on the right, and categories are listed on the left.
  • In Print mode, layouts are listed on the left, and Print Options is on the right.

You cannot set Layout Options differently for different flows or pages within the same layout.

You could have multiple layouts, one for each song or set of songs that need the same settings.

But I suspect if you ask here or describe what it is that you need to be different, in a lot of cases there’ll be an alternative solution that can be done within one layout.

Vertical spacing is just the parameter that i was experimenting with; i was being ludicrous by making the space between piano staff at 20. What I wanted to be different on one particular flow was the measure number per system.

Hi Lillie, thank for taking the time. Yes, could you elaborate more on the multiple layouts concept? Thank you

I cannot read Lillie’s mind, but I envision sending different flows/songs to different layouts and then combining them via PDF if you wish to create a book.

gotcha thanks

Just set Frame Breaks at the start of that page, and at the start of the next. You may need to set the ā€œWait for next Frameā€ property on the first one. (But only do that when you’ve done the second break.)

yes, for sure frame breaks have been awesome, and sometimes with a little help from system breaks, too
