Advice on M-Audio 49 Mk3 keyboard going out of tune

I’m currently running my Cubase 13 on iMac M1 with Sonoma operating system. I am using an M-Audio 49 MK3 which is constantly going out of tune. I’ve tried switching off all the filters but it’s still drifting like mad. I’ve been to the M-Audio website and it would’ve been that particular keyboard is no longer supported for Sonoma. I’m wondering if anybody else with my configuration has had the same problems and can advise on buying a new keyboard that won’t go out of tune!

Hi John, it’s most probably the pitch bend wheel. It seems it’s a fairly common problem with M-Audios, as I also had this with an Oxygen 61, and my cousin with his keystation 49.

So, I don’t know what to suggest. I expect that at higher price ranges there’s more reliability, but I’m not absolutely sure that this is a given.

Hi,

M-Audio is known for its poor HW quality. I have seen many times this issue here on the forum already. The PitchBend wheel is probably sending values.

You can filter PitchBend out in Cubase: Preferences> MIDI > MIDI Filter.

Hi Martin I have tried the midi filter but unfortunately that didn’t work. Im using Halion 7 for most of my instruments and I was wondering if theres anything in Halion I can try but I would presume its really down to the main midi filters

Hi,

Could you attach a screenshot of the MIDI Filter?

You need to tick both Pitchbend checkboxes. In Record, and in Thru.

Many thanks I’ve just set that and I’ll leave it for a while . It tends to drift out of tune after a period of time

SOLVED! well it looks that way. Ive left Cubase on with a project for about an hour and no sign of any drifting or tuning problems. I always thought that by un-clicking a midi filter meant that it was being switched off-apparently not!
Many thanks for everyone’s input-much appreciated and saved me from buying another keyboard!
