Advice re: rendered audio files lost upon crash - DESPITE BACKUP?

It seems that, when cubase crashes, it loses all the rendered audio events, despite having saved a *.bak

I can see the rendered files in the Audio folder, but their size is Zero Bytes, and so are essentially blank files.

It seems to defeat the object of a auto-backups if cubase wipes the rendered files.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks!

Did Cubase crash during rendering? It seems rendered files should be written to disc when rendered… ???

The .bak file is actually a Cubase project (.cpr) file and is written at the intervals set in the Preferences. If a crash occurs, all changes in the project file since the last automatic backup are not recorded in the .bak file.
Rendered files are audio files in the audio format set in the project settings. They are created immediately during rendering (0 bytes) and then written with audio data (x bytes). If a crash occurs between creating and writing, 0-byte files will remain in the folder.
