.aif files not working in Cubase 14

When I drop an .aif file into Cubase 14 project, it sounds like clicks and pops when played back (there is nothing resembling the original sound, just crackling digital error kind of sound). The same .aif files work in Cubase 13.

Using latest Mac OS Sequoia.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Could you provide details about the file (sample rate, bit depth)? Does it happen with every signle *.aif file on your side, or just a specific file?

Hey, thank you.

I tried with 96kHz 32bit and 44kHz 16bit. Yeah it happens with every .aif or .aiff file. When I drop a new sample to a project they become this kind of “sample and hold” style waveform, even if it was regular guitar stem or something. Existing .aif files waveforms from Cubase13 project look normal, but they sound the same click n pop error sound.

Ok just found something new. So if I create totally empty Cubase14 project, they work fine. They do not work when I either use Cubase13 project or a template made in Cubase13.

I just updated all the plugins in my Cubase13 template (couple of 3rd party reverbs and delays). Still the sample problem.

Same here, running on a Windows 10 machine. Files are 48kHz at 32 bit. Cubase 13 project with aif files loaded into Cubase 14 shows the described behaviour. If I open the file in Cubase 13, everything is fine.

Same issue here on windows 11. The media bay will play the aif files. But become distorted once dragged into cubase. Works fine in Cubase 13.
