All Laptop Sound Lost When Cubase Open

Hi,

I’m new to Cubase and am running the free trial before I buy.

Problem: when Cubase is running all sound from every source is lost (Chrome, music, video, Cubase…). There is literally no sound. When I close Cubase, sound returns to other apps.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled but to no avail.

I can’t find this particular problem in another thread.

Any kind and informed soul able to suggest anything that might resolve the issue?

There is the release audio driver when program is in background option in the devices/audio setup…that will allow other audio to play when Cubase is minimised or behind another program.
To actually allow other audio to play when Cubase is in focus, there’s a windows setting, I think in audio/advanced about allowing programs to take exclusive control of your audio device.
