Couldn’t find it in the manual…
Is there anywhere a list (or some sort of output), please of every single player/instrument for which Dorico 6 is capable of scoring, please?
Ideally grouped by family.
TIA!

Hi @MarkSealey, well, the Instrument Picker itself contains all the defined instruments, organised by family.
You have also, from menu Library, the Instruments…, and Instruments Families… dialogues, where you can also see all defined instruments, in different ways and with different filter functionalities.
But Dorico gives you the possibility to create your own instruments, and save them as default, so they are usable in all future projects (and they will be visible in those same dialogues)!!
So: no limits
The instruments and instrument families that Dorico knows about are contained in files called instruments.xml
and instrumentFamiliesDefinitions.xml
in the Dorico application directory. These are used to populate the instrument picker and dialogs.
Here is a zipped CSV file listing all of the instruments and their families. Variants (e.g., all the different available keys of trumpets and horns) are not included.
Dorico Instruments.zip (2.2 KB)
Thanks very much, Christian!
It’s a text list I want. And now have it.
Your drawing my attention to creating my own appreciated: Yes, there really is no limit!
Much appreciated, Aaron. Just what I was looking for !
