Ambisonics project makes no sound everytime I open the project again

Hi, I have a problem with Ambisonics (1OA) playback. I’ve set everything up exactly as shown in the Cubase tutorials (much more complicated than in reaper imo, but in exchange they deliver all the en- and decoders and panners in the box i guess). I have the headphones as Main Mix, I have my Phones Channel with my interface output connected. I play the project and everything seems fine.

Then I close the project and Cubase.

When I reopen Cubase nothing changed, but I don’t hear anything anymore.
Luckily I found a workaround by deleting the phones output in the control room and then adding it again and connect it to my interface output again. It is not enough to just re-add the interface outputs. I have to delete the whole phones bus. I tried that with different ASIO drivers.

This is an unessesary procedure.
Does anyone have a solution, or am I missing something here?

Win11, Cubase 15.0.21

Now I noticed, that this also brings with it, that I always have to activate again that I want to hear the click track on the Phones Output in the right zone, because it forgets that setting when I delete the Phones Bus. Same for every setting in the vst ambidecorder plugin

I contacted the support and they replied to me with a solution that worked for me.
This was their solution:

  • Close all programs.
  • Open the “Run” dialog box by pressing the Windows logo key + R.
  • In the command line of the “Run” window, enter this path: %appdata%/Steinberg
  • Open the folder named after your program, e.g., “Cubase 15_64”.
  • Locate the file named “Defaults.xml”
  • Rename the file, e.g., to “0_Defaults.xml”

This will reset the most important defaults, including the “Control Room” configuration. Please note that Defaults.xml contains many other configurations. Unfortunately, this file cannot be edited manually, so it is not possible to retain other configurations if they are also affected.

This hast to happen for the %appdata%/Steinberg location of the user on your PC that you’re using cubase with.

Now it works fine again on my side.
