An idea for "export to video" with Dorico

OK, this is a fantasy/dream scenario, which I am positive would be a massive undertaking for the Dorico team, but let me fantasize…

Imagine Dorico lets you export a video of your score from the Page view.
A chamber piece, or piano music, would always center so that the whole system is visible while being played back. The pages would “turn” as the music advances.

But for a really large orchestral score, there would be an option where you put in “Tags” in bars, that let you select where you want the visual “focus” to be during playback.
You’d see the whole system width, but with the selected/tagged staff at the “center” of the screen.

Obviously, this entails work on the user’s part as well, selecting on each page where the visual focus should be.

But that would be so cool… you score automatically follows, as it plays, the major musical material that you select, for example, skipping from woodwinds, down to strings, over to brass, back to woodwinds, etc…

Hey, it’s a dream/fantasy.
but it would be SO cool!

Is Dorico ever planning to open up to plugin development? Sounds like an ideal task for a third-party add-on plugin! I present many of my scores using video so that could be interesting.

The following of musical material could get a little chaotic depending on what it is, might result in a score that bounces around a lot. But even just having something where scores could be automatically formatted to the frame size, and “page turn” at the right moments, would be really nice for presentation purposes.

I seem to recall Daniel saying as much in the context of a thread some time ago (about parallel 5/8 checking, I think).

Great, they should haha – I think third-party plugin developers could go down the tangential road of highly specific niche requests (or which are for a specific user), freeing the Dorico dev team to focus on the bigger picture etc.

Of course I know almost next to nothing about programming apart from ocassionally updating my website (which I rarely do because: I know almost next to nothing). But it would seem open plugins could satisfy many “odd” requests and crafty users with development experience could pursue unique ideas and perhaps earn an additional profit. Then finally, people can see a flashing red lights with a siren going off in the background when they’ve left the insert mode on! (maybe only half-joking  )

Or, of course, video presentation export implementation too.

Apparently we’re almost next door neighbors.
