I found one more project which I think is rather well suited to Cantai in its current state – a setting of the Grimm tale “The story of the Youth who went forth to learn what Fear was”. One of the brothers’ more offbeat tales! It’s short and worth reading before listening unless you are only interested in the Cantai rendering (which is in fact the main point) in which case it doesn’t matter. As this one refused to render (Tech Support are now on the case), I had to export the flows into a new project and then use Cubase to join the two parts back together again. Mostly it features the same male voices as before-- Rigoletto and Hidenori are tbh the only really useable ones so far for more classical singing. A first appearance for Karolyn who does the alto roles.
It can be found here
appbox is acting up… blank page. I’ll try again later.
Fascinating!
They are a bit garbled here and there, unintelligible in other places but promising for sure. Interesting piece, by the way.
yes, they’re not perfect – the main thing I find is very low bass notes sound a bit like a pneumatic drill. Still, they have character and for this particular rather strange tale, this is what’s required and I prefer it to my safer but slightly more dull previous SynthV version.
