I would like to have some way to adjust an instrument’s range. In primary and secondary school projects, some competitions, and some commissions, the instrument ranges are specified and limited. It would help to have out of range indicators adjustable to those specifications.
No doubt this ability will come when the team builds a comprehensive instrument editor. I for one hope it’s coming with Dorico 5, as (I think) it’s the last major editor that has yet to be added to the software.

You can do this now if you don’t mind editing your instruments.xml file. For example, here’s the Alto Saxophone range as specified in the file:
Concert F3-F5 is obviously only a “standard range” for a complete beginner, so if I cared I could easily edit this to something more reasonable.
