Anyone converted lilypond to xml?

I’m trying to convert some lilypond files into xml, in order to import the data into Dorico.

Has anyone had any success in doing this? TBH, I’m struggling with even installing lilypond itself on Apple Silicon.

Installing Lilypond on Windows was a pain for me, too. I struggled a day and than coincidentally it worked.:frowning:

I installed it cleanly (2.24.4) with brew– works with both Silicon and Intel.

The “Linux Download Assistant”

There doesn’t seem to be an Apple ARM binary that you can just download.

Scroll down to the bottom:

I mean of Lilypond. I don’t want brew or MacPorts if I can possibly help it.

Ah yes, sorry. I’m on an Intel and I just tried downloading the tar.gz, unpacking and testing but it failed. I imagine because the packaged binary is built for Silicon.

I have to say, and if memory serves, (without digging back in), I don’t believe there is actually an ly → xml tool out there. Last I heard, Fresobaldi was experimenting with an export to xml.

I’ve not tried it, but there is a python package python-ly that claims a translator from lilypond to xml, albeit a beta version.

Might be worth investigating.
