Upgrading from 500GB to 1TB.
Had a couple of samsungs that suffered from the slowdown probs and don’t really want to go down that route again!
The only issue with Crucials is then tend to use large sector sizes not supported by some products (Microsoft mail for instance) but if you’re just streaming audio they will be fine.
PS there was a firmware fix on the Samsung 840s for the slowdown issue. I am running 840s and 850s.
Thanks for your replies. Have you noticed any further problems with the 840s ? Some users reporting they’ve started to slow down again after the firmware fix and apparently Samsung have acknowledged that the fix is only temporary…
Got a crucial M550 here - the BX100 is not quite so quick but a good price…
I just switched my samsung for a crucial MX100, after my OS SSD crashed… Just keep in mind this new SSD tech is not as stable as older mechanic HD tech yet…
I’ve got 840s in two laptops, one netbook and as my system disk on the Studio PC - I can’t say I’ve noticed a new issue but then it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening!
Maybe it’s just isolated cases with the Samsungs…
