Apollo twin x quad or duo core?

Just wondering if anyone had any experience of this.

I’ve just realised that I’ve ordered an apollo duo core instead of the Quad core which I had before. From what I’ve read and seen it should be great for my needs and I haven’t noticed any issues.

I know that Quad core is going to be generally better all round. Especially if I was using their console system for mixing - which I don’t anticipate doing.

I’ll be mixing in Cubase so won’t require the extra processing power that UAD console provides. Has anyone heard of any difficulties? not sure if I should return it for the Quad core

I’ve got an Twin X Duo as well. Since a lot of UA plugins are now native, I can choose between DSP and native. Now would I like more DSP power? Yes, why not! Cubase is not the limiting factor here. The ability to run native plugins is on the CPU.

From what I understand, UA Console is used for low latency tracking.

What is the difference in price. If small then maye get a quad. But it only different for processing power, so if you really don`t use it…

Thanks both. I think the difference in price is around £250.
I just use console for tracking with their preamps and not had a problem so far.
So to avoid the hassle of returning it and waiting for the new one I’ll see how I get on.
I really need to stop worrying :grinning:

Out of curiosity, did you get the Twin X Gen 2 or 1?

It’s the gen 2.
