I have a project with multiple flows with different meters. Is it possible to apply casting off preferences to only that flow, or is it necessarily in place for all flows of the project?
Not unless you make a duplicate/separate layout using only that flow, since it’s a Layout Option.

I would love this feature very much.
Thanks for the suggestion, Jesper, but this is more trouble than it’s worth. In the current project I have seven flows with different meters, and as i proceed through note entry, measure by measure, it would help if the successive staves could layout automatically in 4-measure groups. As it is, I have to manually insert system breaks, which isn’t terribly inconvenient, but it would be better if I could avoid it. It seems your solution would mean seven different layouts. I would prefer a single, printable layout for the entire project.
I agree.

To minimise/optimise your workflow, you could use the 4 bars/measures per system casting off Layout Option, and only for the flows, where it’s different, do a manual override to this pattern.
In case it helps: you can Alt-click system breaks in Write Mode, and you can also select two (or more) system breaks that are spaced by the number of bars you want, then press R as many times as needed.
I tried that working on flow 3, but it corrupted all of the manually adjusted systems in flows 1 and 2.
As previously mentioned, you can Alt-click System Breaks in Write, so if you want to copy the casting off of a single flow, just add an “unnecessary” System Break to the first bar of the flow, use Select More, then navigate to other part and Alt-click them in by clicking the first bar.

Select More won’t extend to another Flow, so you’ll just copy the layout of that single Flow.
Using a Note Spacing Change might help you to get roughly the number of bars per system you want. But of course if some bars have just a whole note, and others have sixteenth notes, then you’ll need to add some Breaks.
Ok. This is a good workaround. What I learned is that if I alt-clicked the whole rest in a measure which would begin a new system it gave me partial measures in the new systems. If I clicked the barline preceding that measure it worked perfectly.
Thanks to all of you.
That’s why I do the “unnecessary” break in the first bar. With all the breaks selected, I can just Alt-click at the beginning of that bar and all the breaks after will paste correctly. I even have a Stream Deck button set up that will Select All / Filter for Breaks / copy Breaks / navigate to next part / paste Breaks, but obviously I need that Break at the beginning for that to work.
