People seems to be upset about it. I have understand that you can do something with melodyne with it. But is that the only “client”, what else?

No, this is not the only one client. Acutally it’s a VST3 extension. ARA means Audio Random Access.

ARA2 is pretty much a necessity for a DAW these days, and of course steinberg took too long to start working on it…
