ARC2 crashes Wavelab7

No update from anybody??
PG, is there anything you can do about this?

Do you have a contact at IK?

I am in contact with Paul Hudson (paul.hudson@ikmultimedia.com)

They are also fairly responsive to messages on their Facebook page

My support ticket # is 625766.

I will contact this person today.

I am also experiencing WL crash when I try to render. I also have ARC2 running. Removing ARC2 no crash. Would like to be notified if a fix is found, Thank you

Count me among those getting WL7 crashes with ARC2…

So far no answer from the ARC2 people.

I submitted a ticket with them yesterday to add my name to the list…

Here is the response I got from IK regarding the issue - this is a copy/paste:

“Can you uninstall and re-install ARC2 and retry it. Install our plugins under admin account. To do that launch the installer right clicking on it and selecting Run As Administrator. Right click on the Wavelab icon and go to properties>compatibility and check the run as administrator option.”

I haven’t had time to try it yet…

Note that running under administrator prevent dag and drop from Windows eplorer (window security thing)

Has anybody had any luck with this?

IMHO this “recommendation” is a nonsense…
Anyway my account has admin rights thus all my apps are always installed “under admin account”, yet I have and reported this issue myself…

EDIT: “run as administrator option” does not prevent WL from crashing neither

Especially because it crashes WL Mac as well…

Any luck with this? Or is it a matter of waiting for WL8 now.

ikmultimedia has got a WaveLab version to test with, but I have no news from them yet.

…it will crash Cubase 6.5.4 (64bit), too

I open a new or an old cubase project
I put the ARC-plugin into a controlroom-insertslot
I save the project and close it
I reopen the project at the same or another day
I try to open the ARC-plugin with a click on the “e”-button
An error-massage is the result
The GUI of the plugin ist black and empty
Cubase freeze before I can close the program, so I have to close cubase with the task-manager

mw

I can’t reproduce it…

PG, is there any possible difference you can think of between using key shortcut or menu command for “Save as” function in wave editor?

I think I found another pattern how to crash WL7 using ARC2:

  • start WL7 64-bit
  • open WAV
  • insert ARC2 in Master section
  • play portion of the file (just a few seconds)
  • select any portion of the file
  • delete the selection (using Delete key)
  • save the file using “Save as” command (not just Save) via keyboard shortcut “SHIFT+S”
  • choose “No” (e.g. do not make a backup file but overwrite the existing file)
    => WL freezes

This way I can freeze WL almost every time (cca 95%) HOWEVER if I use menu command (File - Save as) it seems to NEVER freeze so far, although when using key command it freezes (more or less) always.

Hence my question in the beginning. Could there be ANY difference at all? I never thought that using either key command or menu item could lead to different results - in this case on my system it definitely does…

PG?

I wrote to the company, but have no feedback.
