Hello!
I’m trying to use a virtual amp like Archetype Nolly or Amplitube with Cubase and my UR22C.
When i play i can’t hear anything (the monitor icon is on), but if i record my guitar and then listen to the record i can hear the Nolly or Amplitube sound.
Can you please help me?
Hi,
These plug-ins are often quite CPU-hungry. Make sure, the Buffer Size is big enough, please.
Hi,
What is the right setup to make it sound good in your opinion?
Hi,
The Buffer Size doesn’t affect the sound quality at all.
@tommasiluca95 Please check that the MIX knob on the front of your UR22C is turned all the way to DAW and that Loopback is deactivated (both can have to do with not hearing when playing).
Then set up mono inputs in Studio Connections (just for clarity) and use input 2 for your guitar, as it is the Hi-Z one (Hi-Z switch needs to be on). Please use an unbalanced instrument cable and flip Hi-Z on/off only when your speakers are off.
When monitoring is activated for your guitar track, the source signal from the interface passes through (you hear your guitar when playing).
When monitor is deactivated, the source signal is the recorded audio (you hear what you have recorded on your track).
Tip: by activating the options “Enable record on selected audio track” (Preferences > Editing > Project & MixConsole) and “Tapemachine Style” (Preferences > VST > Auto Monitoring) you can hear automatically the monitor source when selecting the channel or the recorded material when playing back (monitoring is auto-disabled in play mode).
HI,
I tried both at maximum (2048) and at minimum (32), but I don’t hear the amplifier.
I only hear it when I have recorded and start audio playback
Hi, thank you. I did everything, but the problem is still there. I can hear the Virtual Amp only in my record and not live. Live i listen a classic clean sound (only guitar whith nothing else)
If the MIX knob is turned to DAW, first thing that I’d check is that the knob actually works… a ‘clean sound’ seems a direct signal. I’m assuming you have a healthy input gain from the interface.
Try this with the same project and routing please:
Set a medium/high buffer size
Set the knob to “input”
Play an empty string while turning slowly the knob towards “DAW”
→ you should hear a phasing effect that increases in volume up to 12 o’clock and falls back by further turning.
If this is the case, please save the project and send it to me via PM (zipped should work).
If not, I’m afraid I can only recommend to get in touch with our support.
in cubase if i turn the MIX knob from DAW to INPUT nothing happen.
But if I open the Archetype software it works. If t is on “DAW” i can hear my guitar, if it is on INPUT i can’t hear anything. I think that’s correct.
That is. What you then hear (or don’t) on the Input position depends on the [Mono] switch position and what you’re using for monitoring (Main Out vs Phones).
But in this use case the interface’s MIX knob should always be full on DAW
Yes, but why it doesn’t work on cubase but only in amp app?
I really need to use the amp app in cubase for recording and I need to listen at the correct sound and not a direct guitar.
The strange thing is that on cubase I hear guitar in DAW position and also in input.
Do you have Direct Monitoring enabled in Studio Setup?
Yes, I have the orange speak active
That’s the channel monitoring, I meant the direct monitoring checkbox in Studio → Studio Setup (Configurazione dello studio):
If checked, you’ll be hearing the direct signal from the interface.
Here we are!
Thank you so much. Now it works fine and i can play!
Thank you again
Well, there wasn’t much left to try
Have fun, it’s a great time to play guitar “in the box”.
