Arrange the words of "playing technique" in alphabetical order

In Writing mode, and under Playing Technique, I enter words I use in my scores that don’t exist in the Dorico suggestions: for example: Pitch bending in an undulating motion with breath to go out of tune to fluctuate subtly with the slide These words aren’t sorted alphabetically, making them difficult to find. Is there a way to sort them alphabetically? And if not, it would be helpful to ask the production team to correct this very useful feature! Another question: can this word library, including those added to the system, be exported to a new Dorico file?

Hi Marc, Welcome to the forum

You can save your custom playing techniques as default.

Thank you for your feedback, but you have not answered how to put the words in alphabetical order in “game technique” after adding new words.

I did not answer that question because I don’t know …

You can’t influence the order in which the playing techniques appear in the panel, I’m afraid.

  1. Alphabetical sorting of performance instructions (playing techniques) Yes, I’ve noticed this, but wouldn’t it be possible for the Dorico development team to improve it?Creating a command to sort alphabetically when requested doesn’t seem very complicated to me… Let’s hope so, because as a composer I use this feature extensively, as there are far more instructions for performers than are currently available!
    Thank you for your attention.

Marc

I think I remember that the Dorico ones come first, then the user-created techniques; is this correct? And are the user playback techniques added in order of creation from there? (i.e. with a little planning ahead, could we add those playback techniques in an order that “works” for the user — whether alphabetically or some other order of priority?) Thanks!

Example: I add the name “wind sounds”. It is added to the list, but it is no longer sorted alphabetically. This wouldn’t be a problem for a single name, but I use dozens of them… As an example, I’m sending you a second email (since sending two files isn’t possible!) with some names I’ve used in Finale that have already caused problems! Thank you for your attention.
