I’ve got a weird problem. I’ve basically worked out how to get Keylab 3 working ‘properly’ in Cubase 13 pro on Windows 11. All the buttons, pads, knobs, faders, encoder wheel are working well with both Analog Lab Pro and other Artutria Instruments (and none Arturia instruments)
The problem now? The keyboard is not sending any MIDI data.
I’ve checked that the KLMk3 is working properly with stand alone Arturia instruments (running outside of Cubase) -Everything is working fine - so not a broken keyboard.
Firmware is up to date, correct script loaded - using the DAW MIDI ports - have tried enabling and disabling script - nothing works. I even tried plugging in midi cables (vs USB) via my Focusrite - that also didn’t work.
Only weird thing is that - it did all work, but had some glitches so I enabled WinRT setting in MIDI setup. I now realise the glitches we’re just bugs (discussed in the arturia forum) - but now I wonder whether I have screwed things up using Win RT.
If I disable WInRT everything stops working on the KLMk3 - renabling and re-starting gets things working - but not the keyboard?!
I don’t have a KeyLab 3 in my studio these days, but I remember testing it not too long ago.
If I recall correctly, the DAW port is only used to send MIDI from the transport controls.
There should be another port that sends the MIDI from the keyboard. So you may want to try enabling that port in Cubase.
That being said, WinRT has been very weird on my system. It didn’t work with my controllers for a long time, and then one day it started working fine - and I never figured out why.
Does connecting via the Focusrite work without using WinRT?
There’s also potential additional Windows weirdness when plugging things into different USB ports. Under some circumstances Windows changes the port names. So that’s another thing to maybe check in the Cubase MIDI setup.
Also - just to be sure - are you running any other MIDI software on your Windows machine, that might have grabbed exclusive access to the keyboard’s MIDI port? With some Arturia keyboards, I wasn’t able to connect two Windows applications at the same time.
When I first got my Keylab Mk 3 I’m sure I didn;t have the ‘Use Device Win RT MIDI’ ticked?
Everything is working - so should I be concerned that I’m using WinRT? Does it matter?
There are occasional issues with winRT, while at the same time there are advantages such as properly reconnecting our devices in some cases. I guess that you can go on with it, and if you encounter any issues, just uncheck it.
