As Nuage is now EOL are Steinberg going to update the Eucon side of Nuendo?

Nuage is EOL.

THe best options are from Avid with Eucon protocol. Unfortunately Nuendo doesn’t have the level of integration these units are capable of when using Pro tools.

Are Steinberg , with the loss of their own hardware controllers, finally going to adress this? I don’t think I’ve seen a steinberg-Eucon update for years.

Totally agree, and we keep asking for it.

This is one of several core functionalities that underly what we do as engineers so it is a bit irritating to see no advances on this at all for a long time.

Is there anything specific you’re looking for?

(I wrote about my requests here: Automation system, VCAs, Eucon - Features Request - Nuendo - Steinberg Forums)

It doesnt make sense to me to be using an AVID controller for Nuendo when the parent company is Yamaha

I quite agree but what other choice do we have?

Well….that would be because Avid….owner of the protocol….doesn’t WANT to grant a whole lot more access to sb (or anyone else) for the protocol use….imo.

Avid WANTS Cubendo users to buy Avid controllers. Nothing surprising there.

No doubt would also prefer Cubendo users then also move to Pro Tools of course.

That’s the way I see it. And hey, I may be artificially incorrect

Was Nuage even using eucon? Or was it proprietary? I don’t remember the details on Yamaha’s approach.

I’m pretty sure Avid wants as many users as possible to use the Eucon protocol because that means more hardware sales, and I seriously doubt they would lose much by making Eucon better in Nuendo. If anything I think a far, far bigger why anyone would move to Pro Tools than Eucon integration is Steinberg lagging behind on software development.

Actually, if it’s about trying to get people to buy your own stuff would say that Steinberg was not incentivized to make Eucon more advanced in Nuendo because Nuage existed as a competitor to Avid hardware. Now that that’s no longer the case I suppose we could hope for improvements.

No, Nuage was not Eucon… It does its own thing

I don’t need Eucon anymore - I just got the Softube Console FADER MK III. Fantastic auto-banking, without any plugins in the tracks. It behaves just like it’s running with Eucon. It has deep integration with Cubase/Nuendo due to the collaboration with Steinberg.

I used to have the Avid Artist Mix. And the Softubae FADER MKIII feels exactly the same.

Question… What is the latest version of Eucon for Nuendo? …and, I think I uploaded once is this a separate download location? I have 7.7.0.75, is this the latest?

Where would i get the update if there were one?

Log into your avid account and you’ll find the eucon downloads.

Thanks for the fast reply. Is the download at AVID the same as the studio setup Eucon? I went to avid and i have downloaded the 2025.10 already but the Eucon version in the Studio Setup is 7.7……

Ah I see what you were meaning.

This is the Steinberg side of things and what i was refering to in my original question(post)regarding being updated.

It’s been at 7.7 for quite a while IIRC.

@Norbury_Brook thanks for confirming

I think you are right, quite unfortunately.

I know I keep repeating myself, but, I really feel that core functionality of the DAW, of any DAW, are things like the automation system and professional controller support. Leaving things unfixed or not updated for years is just not a good look.

there’s december Eucon update from Avid by the way. Not the steinberg but the Avid drivers etc.
