Asio-guard?

Hello guys,
Can anyone please explain to me the pros/cons for using “ASIO-GUARD”
I recently noticed it slightly peaking and have been trying to find out why.
Thanks very much fellas.

It is basically a non-realtime processing path for plugins. The idea is Nuendo figures out which plugins don’t need to be processed in realtime and can be processed ahead and does that. In theory that keeps the load on your system down and lets you do more. If it is causing issues you can turn it off in the preferences. You can also tell it if there are plugins not to be put in the guard path and only to be processed in realtime.

They have some info on the help page about it.

It will increase latency, of course, for things that are on it since the whole idea is bigger buffers/render ahead.

This guy has a youtube video on it that is decent.

In the plug-in manager you can also enable or disable Asio Guard per plug-in depending on your needs.
