ASIO host app

Per the First Steps Guide, instructions under Playing back music - Changing the audio output device I want to deactivate “Allow ASIO host application to take exclusive control of selected port configuration”, but I can’t find that option in the Device Control Panel. I have Windows 11. How can I deactivate that option?

Try here:

When I select the Device Control Panel, all I see is a heading showing Steinberg built-in ASIO Driver, below which is Output with Device Name showing Realtek and Input with Device Name unknown. I don’t see in option to deactivate “Allow ASIO host application to take exclusive control of selected port configuration”. Is there something I’m missing?

I’m on Mac so I’m not too sure.

I think that Ulf may check in soon and have an answer for you.

Thanks for your efforts. This forum is very helpful to me as I struggle to learn Dorico.

Hi @Kay_Brightnan , that “Allow Exclusive Control” option is available in our old Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver, but that one is succeeded since recently by the new Steinberg Built-in ASIO Driver and the new driver does not have that option any more because it will never use an audio device exclusively.

And by the way, the Device Setup dialog can be more easily accessed via the menu item Edit > Device Setup.
