I have Cubase installed and I selected Release ASIO driver in the background.
However, i find that when I use Cubase, I can’t hear any other sounds from any other programs. For example, if I am using Cy-ubase, the sound from Youtube will not play. What am idoing wrong?

Are you using an ASIO driver? What one? With what audio device?
I am using he Steinberg UR44 with the Yamaha Steinberg USB Asio selected.
Try to open Windows sound settings (I guess you’re on Windows), and untick allow programmes to take exclusive control of this device (for the UR44)
Sorry…yes I am using Windows 10.
I don’t see that option that you mentioned. ( untick allow programmes to take exclusive control of this device ). Mybe I am not looking in the right place? I pulled up Sound Manager.
In the Studio Setup scfreen of Cubase, I selected Releasse Dri ver when application is in the background. Maybe I should unsleect that?
