Assigning flows to custom music frames

Dear Dorico friends,

I am trying to create a worksheet that lets me follow a text while triggering specific notes on a sampler. I created a separate flow for each note – 36 in total. Then I created a blank master page and added a text frame in Engrave mode. I created four pages before all my flows and assigned my new “Blank” master page to them.

What I don’t understand is why Dorico immediately shows page overrides. After that, I pasted the text I need.

The next part is very frustrating: I still don’t understand how to place the music from my flows onto these first four pages on the right side. I would like to draw music frames on the right and then assign each frame to a specific flow – but how?

I cannot do this in the blank master page, because each of the four pages will be different. I am uploading a test file to show what the issue is.

Please help me understand.

Something like this? I drew in a music frame on the first page. Then, in the third blue square at the top of the music frame I selected the first four flows. As to spacing between the flows, that’s another issue. You could also insert four music frames next to each paragraph and select the flow you want for each of those music frames. If you want to do this on the master page templates, you’ll have to delete the existing music frame and add a new one. I am not sure about the page overrides.

Thank you very much. Now I finally understood why I couldn’t see in those little music frames where to choose what exactly should be shown — they were simply too small! When you did it with 4 flows at once, I could see all the settings. Thank you!
Would you be so kind to let me know, if you know, how I can reduce the space I marked in my screenshot? If I drag the frame, I can reduce it down to the staff from the bottom side, but not from the top side. I would like to place it on a very top of the page.

In Layout Options > Page Setup > Music Frame Margins, set the top frame to 0 (Global Option for the layout)

Or, for a local setting, select the frame and set the Top padding to 0.
