This question is to see if someone can confirm if this is correct. I have a 7.1.4 setup installed, and regarding Test generator plugin, I see that it correctly routes the signal to the output with the same gain across all channels. However, when I place the Supervision plugin on the control room output in the monitor insert section, I notice that, for some reason, it applies a 6.02-decibel reduction to the side and surround channels, which it does not do with the others. I’ve read in some places that this is an unofficial standard, but I would like to be sure that everything is calibrated correctly.
I’ve noticed that when there are downmix conversions, energy distribution happens, but that’s not the case here. In this case, it’s a signal that goes in as 7.1.4 and comes out as 7.1.4, identical at the output, but in the control room, there’s that reduction.
Maybe I’m missing an important info-bit in your description, but for me this looks like a routing-error, or a forgotten plug-in. My Control Room meters read exactly what an inserted meter on the main bus would show.
No, you have to try the insert Supervision above in “Monitors”. I also have the same signal in the output. The question is in the “Monitors” control room. To do it I had to put an additional plugging to cut the sound because the 0dB in the control room volume could be a problem. Or you can disable the output. Hope to be more clear. Thanks a lot anyway !!
I´m sorry Mattias, you re right. I mean that all outputs, main outputs and sends to render Atmos are OK, same signals. The issue is with control room , with the “physical” outputs. However I think 7.1.4 setup is a config for Atmos so I put this topic here. I don´t know how to edit the tittle. Anyway this issue is not a very important problem, just to share if anyone has the same thing.
7.1.4 isn’t exclusive to Atmos, and Atmos requires the Dolby Atmos Renderer plugin to be running, so I think the thread title was a bit misleading because it makes it seem like there is a problem literally with the Dolby Renderer plugin, not ‘just’ with Control Room.
Any render we make right now with the current version, as far as I know, will be something coming out of the renderer plugin, not Control Room or even the path after the plugin. So that’s why the distinction was important.
