Audio device trouble

I know similar things have been discussed but I haven’t been able to find an answer to my specific question.

Is there a way that I can get Dorico to default to my headphones when they’re plugged in rather than my laptop speakers? As it is now, every time I start Dorico with my headphones plugged in, I have to go into device setup and manually select them because Dorico defaults to the speakers.

Are you on Win or Mac? And which driver are you using?

Windows 11, driver is Steinberg built-in ASIO v1.0.9.26

Strange, with me here it does remember the headphone settings.
Could you please create a diagnostic report and send me? Thanks

Dorico Diagnostics.zip (1.1 MB)

I don’t know what is wrong, I can’t download it.
Could you please instead send directly to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de ?

Just sent

Sorry, I don’t know why it is not working as expected with you.
I’ve compared your settings with mine and don’t see a difference, yet a different outcome.
Maybe I dig deeper a little later…

Thanks for looking

Hi Cameron,

Perhaps consider a USB audio interface like this.

The headphone amp on this is really good.

Hi Chuck,

Thanks but I’m not sure that would address my issue.

Do not use the M2 with Windows, especially with an Asus motherboard. It worked perfectly on my Surface pro 7, but since I’ve upgraded my computer, the M2 randomly stops sending to my speakers, requiring me to restart the interface. All research shows their drivers for Windows are probably the worst in the business.

Great hardware, though…

Hi @cameronjonesmusic ,
actually I have to put this aside, because I have other things to do.
I tried a lot and fiddled also extensively with the audio settings on Windows, so much that I 'm also now in the same situation like you are and I can’t bring my system back into a state like it was before.
But as said, I have to put it aside for the moment. I will try again when time allows, but sorry for the moment no solution.

No problem!
