I have the latest Dorico release running on Mac OS 14.5.
I have a somewhat complicated studio setup, so I have lots of audio devices (currently 11 devices - mostly virtual).
However, when I go to select an audio output for Dorico’s playback, I only see seven options. Here is an image showing Audio-Midi setup’s list of devices and Dorico’s ASIO Driver selection list box:
Note: if I change my setup (i.e. if I power-off my RME interface), then one of the ‘missing’ audio devices shows-up in the list after I restart Dorico. In summary, it looks like (to me) that Dorico is capping the number of audio devices in the list to seven. That’s great if the output I want is in there, but a headache if it isn’t. For example, I’m trying to send Dorico to my “Main Studio Bus” Omnibus output, but I cannot because it isn’t in the list. If I start disconnecting hardware and turning things off, eventually it will show-up in this list.
Anyone else run into this? Any tips to get around it? Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forum, Don.
I don’t think there’s any way for Dorico to restrict the number of devices in the list to a specific number. It looks to me like all of the devices that have at least one output defined are appearing in the list, aren’t they?

Are “From OBS Bus” and “Main Studio Bus” actually different things?
One thing you could do in Audio MIDI Setup.app is create an Aggregate or Multi-output device, which is a ‘virtual’ device that can include one or more devices.
I note that the devices are listed in alphabetical order in Dorico, so create an Aggregate device that contains “Main Studio Bus”, and name it “Aardvark”.

Thank you both your your replies and suggestions. I’ll investigate further. Good suggestion on the aggregate device - might try that next.
Loving Dorico (came from Sibelius).
Cheers!

@dspreadbury - That’s a good observation. In theory, my “Main Studio Bus” virutal device is configured in the same way as “From OBS Bus” [both are Omnibus virtual devices and both identify as 4in/4out devices], so it is unclear to me why that wouldn’t be in the list.
I’ll do some additional investigation. What originally prompted this is that I didn’t see my RME interface in the list the other day. I closed Dante Virtual Sound Card (which I also run!), and then the RME showed-up in the list. I’ll see if I can grab a screen recording of that behavior. That’s what led me down my crackpot theory about some sort of size limit to the list.
Cheers!
Well, if I wrap my “Main Studio Bus” device in an Apple aggregate device, it works great (Dorico detects it and audio is routed to the right place inside of Omnibus). I’m at a loss to understand why this works (i.e. I’m not sure why Dorico sees the aggregate device and not the underlying “Main Studio Bus” device), but it works for what I need it to do - so I won’t waste any more of my precious remaining brain cells on this.
It could be something odd with Omnibus. As far as I can tell, the “Main Studio Bus”, “From OBS Bus”, and “To OBS Bus” devices are identical in structure in both Omnibus and in Audio-Midi setup (i.e. 4in/4out, same clock/bit rate/etc…).
In any case, I’m working. Thanks for your time and suggestions!
Glad you got it sorted. Note that you’ve got nine devices now, so it’s not a limit to seven!
