Audio disappear after I remove audio interface

Hi,

I am trying to make a song cover and every time I play the exported file outside the soundcard driver, I can only hear the original song. My tools are as follows:

  1. Midiplus Studio 2 Pro
  2. Driver: Midiplus Studio USB
  3. Cubase LE

After I export the file, I can hear the cover if the audio output is channeled through the soundcard and the driver is still on. However, as soon as I remove the soundcard or change the driver, suddenly I cannot hear the cover and only the main song.

This is my first time with DAW and Idk what to do. Pls help :frowning:

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Can you post a screenshot of your export dialogue?
Just for clarification: you can only hear your cover version (aka file) if you play it in Cubase? You cannot hear it with a player outside your DAW, right? The latter is only possible with the original track?

Hi Reco29, thank you so much for the quick response.

Which part of the export dialogue? Bcs there is no error message or anything during the export. I am sending you the export setting in case it might be useful

I can hear the cover as long as I hear it through the soundcard with the Midiplus driver active. So I have to connect my earphones to the soundcard all the time. In the case of Cubase, when I change the driver to Steinberg built-in, I can only hear the cover on the left side of the earphone and at a very low volume. If I quit Cubase after changing the driver to Steinberg built-in, suddenly I cannot hear the cover anymore. The same applies if I unplug the soundcard. It is as if the cover part is attached to the driver and can only be read by the Midiplus driver.

I am really sorry if it is a very long explanation, Idk how to explain it but to be very descriptive

So you’re playing the files in another media player?
See if exporting to 24bit makes any difference, onboard audio may not be compatible with 32??

Thanks for the screenshot, that will do.
Are you talking about the ASIO driver in your DAW if you refer to Midiplus Studio USB? Please make sure that you have installed the latest driver and firmware

In most cases it is better to use the dedicated ASIO driver that comes with the audiointerface.

Coming back to the question that @Grim and I asked

Which outputs are assigned to your OS? Are you on Windows? Is your onboard soundcard still activated?

Yes, you are right. There are two drivers in my DAW right now: the one from Midiplus (I downloaded it through the link you shared as well) and the one built in from Steinberg. I am using the v5.20, which seems to be the latest.

I am running on Windows and the problem will occur when output is not using the Midiplus driver, regardless the soundcard is plugged or not.

Update:

  1. I tried exporting only one cover and 2 overlapping covers. I can only hear it on the left side of my earphones. As it turns out, this is the same case with cover + original audio, but the volume is significantly lower when with original audio
  2. I tried to export it to 24bit and the problem persists. Thanks for the suggestion tho @Grim
  3. I tried to mirror the cover to the right side using Processing, but the problem persists

Looking forward to suggestions while I’m trying to fix it as well. Thanks for the help and questions so far!
