I’m trying to scooch a vocal track to accommodate a singers timing error. Specifically, to adjust where multiple singers start a phrase at slightly different times. But when I slide the track to the correct starting point, playback continues to play from where it had been. Heck, I slid it 5-6 beats earlier, same result.
This is SO unexpected that I know I am making a cockpit error somewhere, just don’t see where. It’s a mystery. Any clues?
So are you saying the Audio Event on the Track Tara doesn’t start playing at approx. Bar 5 and instead starts playing where the Event on Tara Octave starts (approx. Bar 5 Beat 4)?
I think I just spotted (via those screenshots) the source of the problem. You have Melodyne as an Insert on the Track. Melodyne always makes a copy of the Audio behind the scenes and that is what you are hearing. So the Audio Event you are moving isn’t the actual Audio being played.
I use Melodyne in ARA, and for that the fix is to make the Extension permanent. But I’m guessing Elements doesn’t support ARA is why you are using the Insert version. I don’t know how to do that for the Insert version.
EDIT:
An alternative workflow would be to move the Audio in the Melodyne editor.
