Hello all, I’m really hoping I can find some help here before I spend all the time redoing everything I’ve been working on the past year.
I’ve been editing guitars for my album using the free warp tool to make all of them on beat to clean up any mud caused by them not being in sync. I finished editing the fifth song, (all my songs are in the same project), and was listening back through the songs, and noticed the events were off, throughout the project. For example, an event start time would be at 89.1.1.2 instead of 89.1.1.0. What’s weird is that some of them start ahead of the beat, and some start behind the beat, (89.2.4.119 instead of 89.3.1.0) Additionally, the audio warp edits I’ve made are also off by just as much.
As I went through inspecting what could be the issue, I noticed the second song’s tempo started 0.0.0.2 after the beat it was supposed to start on, so I thought that might be the culprit, however this issue remains after fixing it. I thought maybe it had something to do with the audio warps I’ve made, but the issue is seen across all the guitar tracks that I haven’t even gotten to editing yet. Additionally, the event end times are messed up as well, as a lot of them carry on into the next event, overlapping.
Also, it didn’t happen to EVERY single audio event, some of them are fine and right where they need to be. I’m totally confused on how this happened.
Yesterday, I went through manually changing the event start times back to where they were supposed to be on all the rhythm guitars and started manually changing the audio warps back on time as well, but there has to be something I did to shift the events over that can be remedied without redoing ALL of my work. If anyone could help me troubleshoot, I would be eternally grateful.
I’m going to assume the tempo being off is the main culprit of the issue. I have no idea why it only affected certain tracks and midi, but I’ve streamlined the process of fixing it just a little with the quantize audio warp feature. I already have my hitpoints set, so fixing it is just a matter of going into each event, quantizing the majority of the notes right on time, and adjusting any outlier notes that don’t fall in with the quantize. Oh, and making sure the event start and end times are on beat. It’s still manually fixing it, but it must be done, and this will speed up the process a bit. I guess the moral of the story is to make sure all your tempos are right on beat, because changing it after you have audio tracks will move them all around down and up stream.
