Audio files occasionally have huge static

Does anybody else have this issue? Occasionally after recording audio, saving the file after listening to it and its fine. But then reopening the file later on a random track will have loud static on it in random spots of the track. Plus only one track is affected, not all of them. But when I try to delete it and duplicate an unaffected track it happens again…WTF??

Can you post a screenshot? or an audio file? Something to understand better

Plus it makes the meter pin at max and won’t move up or down afterward. This on top of output under studio settings states unconnected to focusrite but still outputs the signal to it anyway. The damn thing is nuts.

Ok, do you have anything on the track’s inserts?
Can I see your channel settings ( the little “e” symbol on track)?
Also, where’s your waveform’s view density bar set (upper right corner)

That’s very strange. Makes it seem like the project is corrupted or that you may need to reinstall or something.

Can you show pictures of the output tab in audio connections window as well as the sends and outputs for that channel, so we can see there’s not a human error?

Actually, what may be faster is this:

  1. Save your project
  2. Open empty project
  3. Import the track with problems into empty project
  4. Check if the same thing happens.

I tried reinstalling cubase 12 pro twice with the same issue still. I’m trying with new project. How do I uninstall everything since it seems to keep the same crap so I can’t get a clean install.

can you disable your preferences to see if it changes?

I think it has to do with the audio interface. Uninstall and install the latest drivers and then make sure that the driver is selected on studio settings so it is properly configured.

Thanks I’ll give it a whirl.

I’ve had this puzzling problem recently, and it turned out it was a copy protection mechanism in IK Multimedia plugins (which I needed to reauthorize to fix this).
