Audio Interface connected but no signal on audio track

I’ve just returned to Cubase after quite the hiatus. Last software I had was Cubase 9 and have just downloaded Cubase 14, however, having issues with getting a signal on audio tracks.

I’m using the PreSonus AudioBox iTwo to record vocals and bass. I can confirm the following:

  • Asio driver set to PreSonus AudioBox iTwo
  • Direct monitoring is switched off
  • Audio connections - both inputs and outputs have PreSonus AudioBox iTwo selected
  • Tracks are record enabled with monitoring switched on
  • Routing - input: mono in 2 (bass plugged into input 2) and output: stereo out
  • Can hear bass through headphones attached to my audio interface, despite no signal on track
  • Can hear metronome through audio interface
  • Tested copying an audio track to the timeline and this also played back fine

I have closed the file and started again numerous times, played about with different configurations, also tried my old behringer single input interface and had the same issue.

I’ve been trying to get this working ALL DAY and feel like I’m about to pack it in already. Had such high hopes and now feel like the day has been wasted.

Does anyone have any idea as to what I’m missing here? Any help would be much appreciated.

PS. Have also restarted my Mac and downloaded the latest update.

Please show a screen grab of the Audio Connections windows. Both the Output and Control Room tabs

It will only allow me to post one upload at a time so will send the inputs one in a moment

Thank you

Can’t find the control room tab. Google says it should be there however, unsure where. I have cubase elements so perhaps that’s why?

Yes, that is why.
On the Mac you might have to tell the OS that it is okay for Cubase to access the audio. I think this will be the microphone security setting.

You are a legend - thank you. Can’t believe this whole time it was such a simple fix! I can’t tell you how many times I restarted the software, Mac and even reset all my audio settings. I’m surprised the Mac didn’t ask me this upon installation. Thank you so much for your help!

I see now from your screen grabs you’re using the Elements version of Cubase, which doesn’t include the Control Room feature, sorry for the wild goose chase
